National guidelines for management of cervical squamous intraepithelial lesion: A survey of European Federation for colposcopy members

Objectives The management of women with cervical squamous intraepithelial lesions (SIL) is fundamental to prevention cancer in an organized screening programme. Clinical guidance should improve quality care and clinical effectiveness if developed implemented appropriately. This survey provides update on the current situation national guidelines for SIL amongst member countries European Federation Colposcopy (EFC). Study design A questionnaire was sent representatives each country EFC. contained questions on: National Societies/Associations or others societies/associations including development consultation processes, lower genital tract diseases regulations colposcopy practice. Results We received responses from all 34 countries. Thirty reported a guideline that were by, conjunction with, their societies associations colposcopy. In most cases there adherence recommended steps development: they by multi-disciplinary group specialists (29 countries) society members consulted before publication (21 countries). small number (8) have dysplasia (e.g. vulval disease) other societies.
